WESTERN MICHIGAN FACES DENVER AND BOSTON UNIVERSITY TAKES ON PENN STATE IN NATIONAL SEMIFINALS TODAY AT ENTERPRISE CENTER; FREE FAN ACTIVITIES ABOUND
ST. LOUIS – April 10, 2025 – College hockey has taken over Downtown St. Louis as the 2025 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four plays out on the ice at Enterprise Center. The national semifinals take place today (Thursday) with Western Michigan taking on Denver at 4 p.m. and Boston University against Penn State 60 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The winners of the semifinal games today will meet for the national championship on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Western Michigan and Penn State are both making their first appearance in the NCAA Men’s Frozen Four, while Denver is making its 20th trip and Boston University its 25th appearance to college hockey’s national championship. The event is expected to bring some 15,000 fans to the region, many of whom are Frozen Four regulars not tied to one of the four participating teams. They come from around the country and will fill hotels, restaurants, and attractions – generating significant economic impact. The Frozen Four also provides local fans with numerous free and accessible opportunities to experience the excitement surrounding the event, whether you have tickets to watch the games at Enterprise Center or not.
NCAA Frozen Fest is the official fan festival of the Frozen Four and will take place on the south lot of Union Station, under the train shed. Frozen Fest is a celebration of all things college hockey and includes interactive challenges, official merchandise, music, team pep rallies, fan giveaways, and celebrity appearances. Frozen Fest is open to the public and free to attend today (Thursday) from 2 until 7 p.m. and again on Saturday from Noon until 6 p.m. Additionally, there will be VIP team arrivals on the blue carpet outside the Post Entrance of Enterprise Center prior to each game. Fans can line the blue carpet and cheer on each team as they walk into the arena approximately two and a half hours before puck drop (1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. today; 4 p.m. on Saturday).
The Hobey Baker Award, awarded annually to the top player in college hockey, will be presented on Friday night, April 11, at Stifel Theatre. The awards show is at 5 p.m. and is free to attend. The three finalists are Denver sophomore defenseman Zeev Buium, Michigan State junior forward Isaac Howard, and Boston College sophomore forward Ryan Leonard.

The Men’s Frozen Four is co-hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission and the University of Vermont, with significant support from the St. Louis Blues and Enterprise Center. “It has been 18 years since we last hosted the Men’s Frozen Four, and we’re absolutely thrilled to welcome the event and college hockey fans from around the nation back to St. Louis,” said Sports Commission President Marc Schreiber. “Our local hockey fans combined with the tremendous influx of visiting fans will make for a bustling, festive atmosphere Downtown. It is especially wonderful to see the excitement of Western Michigan and Penn State fans being at their first Frozen Four and the traditional powerhouses with great followings in Boston University and Denver really make this Frozen Four experience a special one for all involved.”
This marks the third time St. Louis has hosted the NCAA DI Men’s Ice Hockey Championship (the event became known as the Frozen Four in 1999). The previous years were 2007 when Michigan State defeated Boston College for the title at Scottrade (now Enterprise) Center, and 1975 when Michigan Tech defeated Minnesota for the championship at the St. Louis Arena.
