St. Louis Sports Commission to Host Seventh Annual Biz Dash 5K presented by World Wide Technology Tomorrow at Centene Stadium Downtown

ST. LOUIS – September 21, 2022 – The Biz Dash 5K presented by World Wide Technology has set new records with more than 7,000 race participants representing 274 companies and organizations from across the region coming to Downtown St. Louis on Thursday, September 22 in what has become known as “St. Louis’ Healthiest Happy Hour.”  The event brings the St. Louis business community together promoting a healthy, active lifestyle and building team camaraderie with co-workers and friends in a fun atmosphere featuring music, food, drinks, entertainment, and a 5K run/walk.  In its seventh year, the Biz Dash reached new highs in participants and company teams registered.

“The St. Louis Sports Commission is so excited to work alongside St. Louis CITY SC to showcase St. Louis’ newest jewel in Downtown West,” said Sports Commission Vice President Chris Roseman.  “We look forward to an incredible evening with thousands of participants from across the region at this year’s Biz Dash presented by World Wide Technology.”

The Biz Dash marks the first public event held on the grounds of Centene Stadium, home of St. Louis CITY SC.  Company teams will gather starting at 5 p.m. in the Spire Team Village which stretches from Centene Stadium’s Lou Fusz Plaza across 20th Street and into Aloe Plaza.  St. Louis CITY SC Head Coach Bradley Carnell will serve as Biz Dash grand marshal and official race-starter.

“The St. Louis business community has been so supportive of the team, and we are very excited that they will get the chance to come together and have fun on our stadium grounds at the Biz Dash,” said St. Louis CITY SC Chief Revenue Officer Dennis Moore. “This is our first major public event on Lou Fusz Plaza, and the Biz Dash is aligned in STL CITY’s mission as a club to promote health, wellness, and uniting the community through the power of sports and exercise.”

The Biz Dash 5K race begins at 7 p.m. with a scenic route starting on Market Street in front of Union Station, traveling east toward the Arch, with views of Soldiers Memorial, Stifel Theatre, City Garden, Kiener Plaza, Busch Stadium, and Ballpark Village, before finishing on Chestnut Street on the north side of Aloe Plaza.  Typically about half of Biz Dash participants walk, but some companies are competitive, aiming to win a team award for the best race times in one of 18 industry categories.

Presenting sponsor World Wide Technology had the most participants on a single team for the seventh year in a row with 675 of its employees signed up to run or walk.  “The Biz Dash is just an awesome way to connect with your employees, and get out for a great night to celebrate health, wellness, and St. Louis in general,” said World Wide Technology CFO/COO Tom Strunk.

The Biz Dash is produced by the St. Louis Sports Commission.  Proceeds from the event benefit the St. Louis Sports Foundation, the Sports Commission’s 501c3 charitable affiliate.  The Foundation’s newest program, Let ‘em Play, was launched in August 2022 with a messaging campaign centered on reminding youth sports parents, coaches, fans, and players that referees are to be respected and unsportsmanlike behavior is unacceptable. Starting in the St. Louis soccer community, Let ‘em Play has already spread to other youth sports organizations and will soon begin to reach national recognition.  The St. Louis Soccer Referees Association has a team of local referees participating in the Biz Dash.
