ST. LOUIS – August 18, 2026 – The 2026 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships, hosted in St. Louis this past January, has been named a finalist for Best Amateur Sports Event in the 2026 SportsTravel Awards — and the St. Louis Sports Commission is asking the community to help bring home the national honor.

and selecting the 2026 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships in the Best Amateur Sports Event category.
“St. Louis showed what happens when a community fully embraces a major sporting event,” said Marc Schreiber, president of the St. Louis Sports Commission. “From the tremendous crowds and unforgettable atmosphere to the collaboration of our partners and volunteers, the Championships represented St. Louis at its best. We hope everyone who experienced that special week or takes pride in our region’s reputation as a premier sports destination will cast a vote for St. Louis.”
Held in January 2026 at Enterprise Center in Downtown St. Louis and Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, the Championships welcomed the country’s best figure skaters as they competed for national titles and spots on the U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team.
The event drew more than 91,000 fans, generated $15.8 million in total regional economic impact and produced 25,000 hotel room nights. Sixty-seven percent of the spectators came from outside the St. Louis region, and the Championships received high marks from athletes, officials, media members and visiting fans.
