Nationally Televised Musial Awards to Honor Those Who Inspire with Extraordinary Sportsmanship Saturday Night

ST. LOUIS – Nov. 18, 2024 – An event which engages you with celebrity names, while heartening your spirit with inspiring stories of everyday heroes, the Musial Awards presented by Maryville University takes the spotlight at Stifel Theatre in St. Louis on Saturday, November 23 at 7 p.m.  Recognized as the foremost event celebrating extraordinary sportsmanship, the Musial Awards annually combines emotion, storytelling, humor, and joy into an experience that reminds its audience that sports often bring out the best in humanity and one person can make a world of difference.  A limited number of tickets are available through Ticketmaster as the show nears a full house. The Musial Awards will air nationally as a one-hour special on CBS December 29.

This year’s honorees include Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer Bob Costas, who is receiving the Stan Musial Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest award for sportsmanship. NFL great Larry Fitzgerald, Jr. will receive the Musial Award for Extraordinary Character. Other award winners include MLB All-Star Salvador Perez; Paralympic gold medalist Jaydin Blackwell;  Pennsylvania high school basketball coach Dave Mislan; Columbus Blue Jackets Corporate Communications Specialist Lindy Noel; Indiana gymnastics coach Breasha Pruitt; and this year’s Little League Baseball and Softball World Series champions – the Lake Mary (Fla.) Little League All-Stars and Pitt County (N.C.) Girls Softball.

Always striving to elevate the stature and pizzazz of the show, the Musial Awards hit a home run this year with Tony Award and six-time Emmy Award-winning actor and comedian Billy Crystal set to grace the Stifel Theatre stage.  The legendary entertainer will bring his inimitable brand of humor to the Musial Awards audience and will conduct the on-stage conversation with Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Bob Costas.

THE MUSIAL AWARDS ON CBS:

For the sixth consecutive year, the Musial Awards will be seen throughout the country on CBS. The network will air the Musial Awards as a one-hour special on December 29.  In partnership with the St. Louis Sports Commission and the National Sportsmanship Foundation, the broadcast is produced by Al Roker Entertainment, the production arm of 14-time Emmy award-winning TV personality Al Roker.

The Musial Awards presented by Maryville University takes place annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving at the historic 3,000-seat Stifel Theatre in Downtown St. Louis. The show is produced by the St. Louis Sports Commission and the National Sportsmanship Foundation, a charitable nonprofit organization. In addition to keeping Stan The Man’s legacy alive, the mission of the Musial Awards is to encourage kindness, selflessness, integrity and civility in sports and society – and to inspire people across the nation to be good sports. The event has occurred in St. Louis since 2005.
