Matchups Set For 2025 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four With Boston University, Denver, Penn State, and Western Michigan Headed For St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – March 31, 2025 – And then there were four.  The 2025 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four features Boston University, Denver, Penn State, and Western Michigan competing for a national championship April 10 and 12 in St. Louis.  Western Michigan faces defending national champion Denver in the first semifinal game on Thursday, April 10 at 4 p.m. CT at Enterprise Center, while Boston University is pitted against Penn State in the second semifinal at 7:30 p.m. that night.  The winners of the semifinals will face off for the national championship on Saturday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. CT at Enterprise Center.

The four teams provide a striking contrast between the historically “haves” and “have nots”.  Denver has won the most national titles of any team in history with 10, including two of the past three.  Boston University is a storied program in its own right, winners of five national championships occurring in three different decades.

As the Davids challenging the Goliaths, Penn State (13 seasons in NCAA hockey) and Western Michigan (52 seasons in NCAA hockey) are both making their first-ever trips to the Frozen Four.  Western Michigan is the highest seeded team remaining in the tournament, being the only #1 seed to advance out of the regional round.

All four teams will arrive in St. Louis on Tuesday, April 8 and each will conduct practice sessions which are open to the public and free to attend on Wednesday, April 9 at Enterprise Center.  A schedule of practice times appears below.  A full schedule of activities and all event information is available at stlsports.org/frozenfour

The 2025 Men’s Frozen Four is co-hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission and the University of Vermont.  This marks the third time St. Louis has hosted the NCAA DI Men’s Ice Hockey Championship (the event became known as the Frozen Four in 1999).  The previous years were 2007 when Michigan State defeated Boston College for the title at Scottrade (now Enterprise) Center, and 1975 when Michigan Tech defeated Minnesota for the championship at the St. Louis Arena.  Boston University played in the 1975 semifinals in St. Louis, making a return trip to this year’s Frozen Four 50 years later.
