ST. LOUIS – Nov. 23, 2020 – St. Louisans joined the Musial Awards, St. Louis Sports Commission and Stan Musial’s family at the Musial Statue outside Busch Stadium for a social distanced celebration of Stan The Man’s 100th birthday on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 21. During the drive-by birthday party, fans brought birthday cards, shared well-wishes and their favorite Stan memories with his family. Individually packaged cupcakes and hand sanitizers were distributed to fans after they greeted the family. A group of harmonica players were also on hand to entertain, and at SIX minutes after 2 p.m., played “Happy Birthday,” which culminated in a fireworks burst… while Fredbird brought out a cake for the family!
While the live Musial Awards show at Stifel Theatre cannot take place in 2020, the show will still go on in the form of a one-hour CBS Sports Spectacular that will air nationally on CBS on Saturday, Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. CT. The broadcast will recognize the Musial Awards’ 2020 honorees, including Baseball Hall of Famer Hank Aaron, recipient of this year’s Stan Musial Lifetime Achievement Award for Sportsmanship, and NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, recipient of the Stan Musial Award for Extraordinary Character.
The Musial Awards created a Stantennial Party Box to celebrate Stan The Man’s 100th birthday. It’s a perfect way to enjoy the holidays and is filled with birthday treats – for up to 4 people – and one-of-a-kind items. Due to the initial demand, another group of party boxes will be shipped and available for pick-up the week of Dec. 14. To purchase your Stantennial Party Box, click here.
