Consider the Biz Dash a Thursday night happy hour or company outing. There’s company tents, hospitality, tailgate games, live music and a corporate 5K making it “St. Louis’ Biggest Office Party!” All levels of runners and walkers are encouraged to participate for their Company Team. With Industry Categories, a CEO Challenge, and a T-Shirt Contest, the Biz Dash has something for everybody. Join 200+ companies and over 5,000 participants for a fun night of team building and networking!

Biz Dash 5K starts at 7 p.m.

The Biz Dash is open to employees from corporations, small and large businesses and financial institutions. Employees of non-business organizations (federal, state and municipal governments, educational institutions, and quasi-governmental organizations) are also eligible to participate as long as they are employed by the same unit, branch, chapter or school.

Company Team Eligibility:

  • In order to be eligible for a Company Team, participants must be actively employed and work a minimum of 25 hours per week.
  • Companies may register an unlimited number of employees for their team, all of whom will be individually timed.
  • Team scores will only include participants who are employed by that Company Team. Family and/or friends may be included on Company Teams (if designated during registration), but they will not be eligible for team scoring. All runners will be able to view their individual times.
  • Companies must have a minimum of four participants to be eligible for team scoring (two men and two women). See “Scoring & Awards” for more details on how teams are recorded.
  • The CEO Challenge category is available to companies with five or more full-time employees. Please refer to “Scoring & Awards” for more details regarding this category.

Individual Participate /Sports Foundation Team:

  • Individuals are welcome to join the Sports Foundation Team if their company is not participating.
  • On the Registration page, select the “I’m Not On A Company Team” button. You can join the “Sports Foundation Team” by using the password “stlsports”.
  • Sports Foundation participants will only be eligible for the overall male and female awards.

Race Day Rules:

  • All participants must wear their assigned race bib on the front of the shirt during the race. Race numbers must be visible and in full view.
  • For safety reasons, bicycles, roller skates, in-line skates, and pets will be prohibited on the course and in the Spire Team Village.
  • Entries are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be deferred to another year.
  • Children 3 years old and under are free and do not need to be registered.
  • Event management reserves the right to delay, postpone or cancel the event due to inclement weather or conditions deemed unsafe. Participant safety is the number one priority. Entries are non-refundable in the case of cancellation.

Entries are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be deferred to another year.

Company Teams
Team Captains have three options for covering entry fees. Captains must make this selection in the “Event Cost” section during team creation. Be sure to talk to your Human Resources or Wellness department to determine how your company will handle payment for this event.

  1. Employees pay their own entry fee (at no cost to the company).
  2. Company pays for a percentage of each entry fee. The remainder is covered by each individual employee.
  3. Company pays for 100% of entry fees. Team Captains will have access to a “Team Invoice” feature through their Team Captain Homepage to view a running balance of their participants. Team Invoices will be sent out on Monday, September 9 to all Team Captains.

Options for Remitting Payment:

Team Captains will select an industry category when creating their Company Team. This category will create division assignments that enable companies to compete against similar companies/industries. There are 18 industry categories to choose from listed below:

Awards presented by Fox Sports Midwest will be presented on the Biz Dash stage before and after the race in these categories:

Industry Categories:

  • The top team in each of the 18 industry categories will be displayed on the Edward Jones HD Screen following the race. The Biz Dash event staff or volunteers will deliver the awards to each winning team at their tent or area after the 5K or following the event.

 

Overall Male & Female – The Overall category will be scored according to the first runners that cross the finish line.

 

HBM Holdings CEO Challenge – The HBM Holdings CEO Challenge is available to companies with 5 or more full-time employees. It will be scored according to individual chip time (in male and female categories). A CEO Challenge participant must have an Executive or C-Suite Title at their company in order to be eligible. This category welcomes both runners and walkers! Please be sure they are registered for the event by joining your Company Team.

 

 

Top Team in each Industry Category presented by Fox Sports Midwest – The Top Team category will be scored according to chip times for all 18 Industry Categories. A company must have a minimum of two men and two women to qualify for team scoring. The top two male finishers and top two female finishers from each Company Team will be automatically combined to create a cumulative team time. ALL participants on Company Teams will have an opportunity to view their individual times.

 

Fastest Small, Midsize & Large Companies – The Fastest Small, Midsize and Large Teams will be scored according to chip times. These categories will be determined by the total number of active (local) employees at each company who work a minimum of 25 hours per week. If there are multiple (local) office locations participating, each employee must be included in the total count. A company is required to have a minimum of two men and two women to qualify. The top two male finishers and top two female finishers from each team will be automatically combined to create a cumulative team time. Team Captains will select their appropriate company size at the time of team creation.

 

Largest Company Team – The “Largest Company Team” with the most participants registered will be recognized and awarded the evening of the race.

 

Tiny Little Monster T-Shirt Contest – Awards will be given out to the winners in the following categories: Most Creative, Best Design, Best Humor. For details, about the contest, click here.

 

The times and locations of packet pick-up for the Biz Dash are listed below. The Team Captain or a designated team employee will be responsible for picking up their team box that will have all of their team members’ packets. They will also be able to pick up parking information and maps of the Spire Team Village (with tent numbers) as well.

For participants registered on the Sports Foundation team, they can pick up their individual packets at the designated times and locations.  They will not be included in the team boxes.

TEAM PACKET BOXES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Team roster
  • Race bibs with timing strips and safety pins
  • Tear tags for complimentary beer (attached to bib)
  • Biz Dash participant shirts

All team members have to be pre-registered before the event. There will be no registration available on race day.

The Spire Team Village map and key will be emailed to the Team Captains on Monday, September 9. Please be on the lookout or check the Spire Team Village page for updates.

What is the cost to register for the event?

$35 per participant May 2 – July 31 at 11:59 p.m.

$40 per participant August 1 – August 31 at 11:59 p.m

$45 per participant September 1 – September 11 at 1:00 p.m.

**These prices do not apply to teams with a starter pack purchased. 

 

Does a company have to pay for their participants?
No, it is free to create a company team. During team creation, Team Captains can set up payment with one of three options:

  1. Employees pay their own entry fee (at no cost to the company).
  2. Company pays for a percentage of each entry fee. The remainder is covered by each individual employee.

What is a Team Starter Pack?
Team Starter Packs are essentially one-stop-shops for team captains if the company is paying for its employees. There are 4 different tiers that include a set amount of race entries and a specific tent size in the Spire Team Village. Team Starter Packs include a discount on tents and allow your registration price to stay locked in at $35 per participant until registration closes on September 5 (if purchased before August 1). When is the registration deadline?
Company Team registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 5.
Individuals who do not have a team or miss the deadline can join the Sports Foundation (general public) team up until Wednesday, September 11 at 1:00 p.m.

 

Is race day registration offered?
There is no race day registration. All participants must pre-register online by the deadlines above.

 

Are race bibs transferable?
Race bibs may not be transferred to another runner, even in the event that the registered runner cannot attend. Doing so will disqualify the bib number.

 

Are there refunds on registration?
The race does not issue refunds or race entry transfers.

 

Can I register if my company is not involved?
Yes! You will just need to join the “Sports Foundation Team” on the registration page. The password is “stlsports.” This team is available to the general public for any individual participants.

 

Is there a limit as to how many people can register for each Company Team?
No, companies can have an unlimited number of participants represent their Company Teams.

 

Is the race timed?
Yes, the race is chip-timed with results.

 

Can family and/or friends participate on a Company Team?
Family and/or friends may be included on Company Teams if designated during registration, but they will not be eligible for team scoring. Team Captains can make this option available for their team during team creation. All runners will be able to view their individual times.

 

What is your child policy?
Children 3 years old and under are free and do not need to be registered.

Who is eligible for the CEO Challenge?
The HBM Holdings CEO Challenge is available to companies with 5 or more full-time employees. It will be scored according to individual chip time (in male and female categories). A CEO Challenge participant must have an Executive or C-Suite Title at their company in order to be eligible. This category welcomes both runners and walkers! Please be sure they are registered for the event by joining your Company Team. Team Captains will be asked a custom question at the time of team creation on whether they would like to include someone into the HBM Holdings CEO Challenge.

 

Can I walk or jog the race if I am not competitive?
Certainly! Anyone who is physically able to complete a 5K (3.1 miles) is encouraged to participate. We encourage all levels of runners and walkers.

 

Can we stick around after the race?
Absolutely, everyone is welcome hang out in the Spire Team Village and enjoy the post-race festivities at Soldiers Memorial. The awards ceremony will start at approximately 8:30 p.m.

 

How early should I arrive?
The Spire Team Village will be open from 5:00-9:30 p.m. The Biz Dash welcome and announcements will start at 6pm. The 5K race will begin at 7:00 p.m.

 

Can our team bring our own food and drinks?
Personal food will be permitted. All beverages in the Spire Team Village must be purchased through the designated stands or via the Schnucks catering options for team tents. No outside alcohol or coolers will be permitted.

 

Is a Company Team required to purchase a tent?
It is not required that Company Teams purchase a tent, but we strongly encourage it! A team tent is a great spot to meet before and after the race, and companies can also pre-order food and beverages to be served at your tent to refuel after the race. (Your team must have a tent purchased to pre-order food/beverages via our catering partners). It is recommended that you determine the number of participants your company will have before you purchase your team tent. Tent rentals are non-refundable after purchase.

 

Are strollers allowed?
Strollers are permitted during the Biz Dash 5K. If running with a stroller, please line up towards the back and allow other runners without strollers to go ahead.

 

Does the Biz Dash 5K have a beneficiary?
Yes, it benefits the St. Louis Sports Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable affiliate. The Foundation implements programs and activities that promote sportsmanship, create positive environments for kids to play sports, and help young people in St. Louis lead healthier, happier lives. Is this event tax-deductible?
This event is tax-deductible for companies who are a sponsor or donate for the event.  

 

What is the weather policy?
The Biz Dash will go on rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, a call will be made about the race at that time.

 

Can my company promote at the event or market as a vendor booth?
The Biz Dash does not allow companies or teams to promote their own events or fundraisers while at the event without approval. Companies can purchase a vendor booth sponsorship by contacting Tom Dolan at 314-345-5111 or tdolan@stlsports.org. The best way to promote your company is through your team t-shirts or the decorations that are allowed within the team tents.
