Director – St. Louis Sports Foundation
Solomon Alexander is the director of the Sports Commission’s Sports Foundation and Sportsmanship Initiative. He manages the programming, events, and the grant-based funding of the Sports Commission’s 501(c)(3) non-profit affiliate organization. The mission of the Sports Commission’s Foundation is to create positive environments for kids to play sports so they remain active and lead healthier, happier lives.
In 2010, Solomon was honored as a Sports Ethics Fellow by the Institute for International Sport, as a person who has “demonstrated admirable leadership in the areas of fair play and sportsmanship.” Through Solomon’s work, the Sports Commission was named as one of 20 American organizations contributing to the practice of fair play by the Institute for International Sport.
Prior to joining the Sports Commission in 2007, Solomon spent the first 10 years of his professional career as a teacher and coach with Lift For Life Academy and Gym in St. Louis, where he taught physical education, language arts and mathematics. He also served as the senior weightlifting, track and field, and wrestling coach for the afterschool program. Solomon earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Rockhurst University in 1998 and added a master’s in education from Walden University in 2008. Solomon is a native of St. Louis and lives there with his wife Madelyn and daughter Madison.
